Christmas At Rosie Hopkins’ Sweet Shop by Jenny Colgan was a book that I won from a Goodreads giveaway. I had not read the previous book in the series and was able to follow the story and the characters. The story is set in England and has romance and family drama. It was festive to read around Christmas.

Royal Holiday by Jasmine Guillory is the fourth book in this series and I would recommend reading them in order so you know the characters better. Each book features some of the same characters and they are all romance books. This new one takes place in London over the holidays and involves the royal family. This book is fun and shows a romance between a couple in their fifties. I went to an author event to hear Jasmine Guillory speak and she was delightful and made me enjoy her books even more. I gifted this adorable Out Of Print mug for my book club gift exchange.

Christmas Bells

Christmas Bells by Jennifer Chiaverini is a historical fiction based on what inspired the poem “Christmas Bells” by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. The story covers his life during the Civil War and also a modern storyline of how his poem is used today. I struggled with the writing style of this book and am curious to see what my book club thinks of this book. We picked a Christmas themed book to read this month to be festive. Have you been reading books inspired by Christmas?

25 Days ‘Til Christmas

25 Days ‘Til Christmas: A Novel by Poppy Alexander is a new Christmas romance book. It is a perfect book to read this holiday season. I loved the countdown until Christmas and all the festive fun preparing for the holidays. Even though it is a predictable romance, it covers some tough subjects like loss, sexual harassment, and suicide. Overall, I really enjoyed this holiday book. Are you reading any fun Christmas books?

The Bromance Book Club

The Bromance Book Club by Lyssa Kay Adams is a new contemporary romance that was such fun. I have to skip the steamy scenes, but I really liked the male main character. He is a major league baseball player with a stutter and he really loved his wife. The whole male book club that reads romance novels to better their relationships was so fun to read about. This was one of the better romance novels that I have read in awhile. Do you enjoy romance stories?

The Giver Of Stars

The Giver Of Stars by Jojo Moyes is a new historical fiction book set in Kentucky. I am a Kentuckian and very few books are set here so I have enjoyed reading about my home state. The story revolves around the pack horse librarians and how influential they were to the mountain people that would otherwise have no access to books and reading. There has been some controversy regarding this book and The Book Woman Of Troublesome Creek by Kim Michelle Richardson. I feel like there shouldn’t be an issue because how many books are there about WWII and nobody gets upset. I have now read them both and I do not see how there can be an issue since these are two different stories that share some historical facts about pack horse librarians in Kentucky.
